Welcome to ‘In The Cross Hairs’ !
Over the years a number of people have suggested that I should be blogging about my deer stalking and general shooting-orientated activities. At last I am doing something about it!
The site is beginning to take shape now, and I will continue to expand it as time & topics permit. Please let me know if there is anything you feel might be added – in the way of articles, reviews, stories…. whatever you think might suit the site, and be of benefit to other shooters.
I’ve been stalking deer for over thirty years now, and although I still enjoy being out in the countryside by myself, in recent years I have spent more and more time taking others out, many of whom are new to stalking and eager to learn what it’s all about. As they invariably discover, stalking can be extremely addictive, particularly if you have an appreciation of natural history, the allure of deer and beautiful countryside.
Although the main intention of this site is to blog regularly, I have also included stories and articles of mine, some of which are new, and a few that you may have read on other sites or in magazines. I trust you will enjoy these, get some insight to a few of the great adventures that I’ve experienced, and gain knowledge on various shooting-related subjects.
As I mentioned earlier in this introduction, I have been deer stalking for over thirty years. However, I reckon that my ‘stalking life’ actually dates back more than five decades! It started as a youngster, living in rather warmer climes, in the sea with mask, snorkel and a spear gun. I believe I can reasonably claim that stalking is in my blood!
I have also been involved in the British gun trade for close on 40 years now. Specialising in modern sporting rifles and optics blends well with the deer stalking. On the optical side I’ve had a close association with Swarovski Optik UK since their arrival on these shores, and am delighted to work as a consultant with the company.
Enjoy the site, and please feel free to leave comment or query, to which I shall endeavour to respond as swiftly as possible.
May I wish you great adventures along with good, safe & accurate shooting!
